Frequently asked questions
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. Extraction runs in your browser using JavaScript, so the file stays on your device. You can confirm this by opening your browser devtools Network tab while working — there are no upload requests.
How do I write the page list?
Single pages, ranges, or a mix: 1-3, 7, 10-12. Spaces are ignored, order does not matter, and a page listed twice is only included once. Pages are numbered from 1.
What's the difference between this and Split PDF?
Extracting pulls a chosen set of pages into one new document — the tool for "I need pages 4 through 9 as their own file." Splitting can do that too, but its other mode breaks every page into a separate file, which is a different job: "I need one PDF per page."
Does extracting reduce quality?
No. Pages are copied across without re-encoding, so text stays selectable and images keep their original resolution. Your original file is never changed — extracting always produces a new document.
Can I extract from a password-protected PDF?
Not directly. A PDF with an open password has to be unlocked first, using a password you know. Once unlocked, it extracts like any other file.
Can I reorder the pages as I extract them?
Not here — extraction keeps the pages in their original document order. If you want pages out of order, or want to see thumbnails while you choose, Organize PDF does that visually.
