Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything runs in your browser using JavaScript, so your file stays on your device. You can confirm this by opening your browser devtools Network tab while working — there are no upload requests.
It says the PDF has no fillable fields — what does that mean?
Not every PDF that looks like a form actually is one — some are simply a picture of a form, or text laid out to resemble one, with no real interactive fields underneath. This tool needs an actual fillable PDF, the kind that highlights its fields and lets you tab between them in any PDF reader. If a form looks fillable in your browser or a PDF reader, it almost certainly qualifies.
Are the values I enter locked in, or can they still be edited afterward?
They stay as live, editable form fields — anyone with the file can open it and change what you entered, the same as before you filled it in. If you want the values locked in permanently so they read as plain page content, run the result through Flatten PDF afterward.
What if I only fill in some of the fields?
Any field you leave alone keeps whatever value it already had — nothing is cleared or reset.
Does this support checkboxes, radio buttons, and dropdowns, or just text?
All of them — text fields (including multi-line ones), checkboxes, radio button groups, and dropdown menus are all recognised and rendered as the matching kind of input.
What about signature fields or push buttons?
Those don't appear in the list of fields to fill in — a push button has no value to set, and a real digital signature field needs cryptographic signing this tool doesn't do. Every other field type on the same form still shows up normally.
Can I fill in a password-protected PDF?
Not directly — unlock it first, using a password you know.
