How to crop image

Choose the area
Drag across the picture to draw a box. If you need exact values — for a profile picture or a fixed banner — type them into the Left, Top, Width, and Height fields instead.
Crop and download
Press Crop Image. You will see the new dimensions and how much of the original area you kept.
Frequently asked questions
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No. The image is displayed and cropped in your browser, so it stays on your device. You can confirm this by opening your browser devtools Network tab while cropping — there are no upload requests.
Does cropping reduce quality?
Essentially no. The pixels inside your box are carried straight across without being rescaled, so nothing is blurred or invented. The file is saved once at high quality, which on a JPG means one more compression pass — imperceptible in practice, and avoided entirely if your image is a PNG.
Can I crop to an exact size, like 1080 × 1080?
Yes. Type the numbers into the Width and Height fields rather than dragging, and use Left and Top to position the box. Cropping never scales, so asking for 1080 × 1080 gives you exactly 1080 × 1080 pixels taken from the original — if the image is smaller than that, crop what you can and then use the resize tool.
Can I crop without a mouse?
Yes. The four number fields are ordinary form inputs, so you can tab to them and type or use the arrow keys, and the selection updates as you go. Dragging is the quick way, not the only way.
How do I crop to a square or a specific ratio?
Set Width and Height to the same number for a square. For a 16:9 banner from a 1920-wide image, set the width to 1920 and the height to 1080. Fixed-ratio dragging is not built in yet — typing the two numbers achieves the same result and is more precise.
Does cropping remove metadata like GPS location?
Yes, as a side effect. The image is rebuilt from its pixels, so EXIF data — camera model, date, and any location the photo was tagged with — is not carried into the result. If you were cropping a photo before sharing it, that is usually welcome; if you needed the metadata, keep the original.
Can I undo a crop?
Not from the cropped file — the pixels outside the box are gone. Your original is never modified, though, so nothing is lost: go back to it and crop again. Press "Select the whole image" to reset the box before you start over.
